To Maarten Private Eye.

If you want to know whats going on in St. Maarten and the neighbouring islands come visit. Especially if you're not afraid to have an opinion. SXM PE values all opinions even if we don't agree with them.

The few remaining posts here will be moved shortly.

Airport extension?

There was a photo with a paragraph this week in the Today Newspaper about the massive dredging and filling of the lagoon at the end of the runway. The Today contacted Eugene Holiday at the airport he affirmed it was part of the expansion project but refused to go into any more details about this part of it. He promised to supply more details in the future about the entire project and this area being created.

Secrets, why always the secrets? At this rate they may as well build a bridge across the lagoon, it'll be 50% there already.

RHD Ban

I learn't today that the unfortunate few who drive RHD vehicles have formed a foundation, The Right Hand Drivers Foundation, they intend to lobby and fight for their right to have RHD cars. They presented a petition of over 200 signatures at the same time as a letter asking for the opportunity to argue in the island council some time back, they got a reply saying the government does not deal with individuals. Much like the one they sent Mercedes.

Royal Awards!

Some people deserve them and never get them, those I know in this years list certainly do.

Flipper's congratulations go out to Malcolm Maidwell, Robbie Ferron, Ruby Bute, Susha Hein, Elizabeth Reitz, and all the others recognized this year in the Royal Awards.

Also a bow to the newly crowned Kaiso King, The Mighty Dow! Condolences to Beau Beau and the others, there's always next year guys!. Louie, our Commissioner of Labor made an entrance during Beau Beau's performance of a song called "Lay off" but was sadly upstaged by Dow who managed to get a DP Senator and the leaders of the two opposition parties up on stage with him during his song St. Maarten is "The Best".
